Terry Tan De Hao

Terry's extensive expertise encompasses a diverse range of visual-related endeavors, including narrative and documentary films, corporate videos, event coverage, music videos, and more recently, wedding videography. As a dedicated freelance video creative, he has cultivated valuable collaborations with clients from government and marketing agencies, local SMEs, MNCs and the art communities throughout his seven-year career.

Terry's journey in the world of filmmaking began with his Diploma in Screen Media from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts from 2016 to 2019. During his time there, he honed his skills and knowledge, earning recognition for his exceptional talent and receiving the esteemed Best Graduate Award. Inspired to further expand his horizons and explore new creative avenues, Terry embarked on a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Media Art (Filmmaking) at the School of Art, Design and Media in Nanyang Technological University graduating with distinction.

In his role as the Producer for his thesis film titled 'Paper Planes, Don't Always Soar', Terry assumed full responsibility for overseeing the entire production. Yet, his aspirations transcend the boundaries of filmmaking. Motivated to create a meaningful impact within the community, Terry proactively sought partnerships with diverse organizations in the making of this film, including Gift Market, Honour Singapore, Mothership, Cloop and Boys Town. As part of his commitment to sustainability, Terry took the lead in spearheading the Green Filmmaking Initiative, where environmentally friendly practices were embraced on set. This initiative was featured on Mothership, and it led to an invitation for Terry and his Director to be interviewed on CNA 938 radio station. The culmination of their hard work came when the initiative was honoured with the Green Seal for Students by the Environmental Media Association (EMA). Not only did the team become the first Singaporean film and university to receive this recognition, but they possibly also led the region in this respect. To be recognised alongside esteemed industry giants such as Walt Disney, Warner Bros and many others is a testament to their commitment to environmentally conscious filmmaking. The film also garnered recognition on the international stage, winning 'Best Short Film' at the Milan Shorts Film Festival, achieving ‘Finalist’ at Little Venice Film Festival, and earning 'Special Mention Film' award at the Mental Health Film Festival Singapore.

Terry's passion also lies in telling stories that genuinely matter. Through his work, he aims to engage audiences on a profound level, offering narratives that evoke empathy, provoke thought, and inspire positive change. His commitment to making a difference shines through his work, as he endeavors to shed light on meaningful subjects that resonate with viewers.
